Rose Marie Smith Turk, a longtime area resident, died unexpectedly on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at home. She was 67 years old.The daughter of the late Lester and Elsie DeWitt Smith, she was born January 10, 1939 in Highland Mills, N.J.A family statement reads, "She was a compassionate woman who always went out of her way to help others. She was a caring, devoted mom and grandmother."She is survived by her loving daughter, Donna Hovanec and her husband, Joseph of Holbrook, N.Y.; three beloved grandchildren, Jessica, Joseph and Linette; two brothers, Lester Smith of Chester, Smitty Smith, of Chester; one sister, Beverly Weaver of Butler, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by one sister, Gloria; and one brother, Sanford.Family and friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening, Sunday, October 22, 2006 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown.A Funeral Service of Remembrance will take place at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Father Patrick McGuigan, O. Carm. will officiate.Cremation will be private and at the convenience of the family.Arrangements are by Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
