Rose Marie Brown, a resident of Englewood, FL and Bloomingburg, NY, died following a long illness on February 4, 2018 at Kaplan Family Residence in Newburgh, NY. She was 77.
The daughter of the late Harry and Barbara Rubino Rusciano, she was born on February 13, 1940 in Elmont, NY. Rose Marie married John D. Brown on January 30, 1960, and they celebrated 58 years of marriage together this year.
Rose Marie was a strong wife, mother and grandmother who loved kids. She was known by many endearing nicknames, like “Wosie”, “Gram” and “Ma”. She took in children for day care in her home, and cared for up to 14 children at a time. She liked to bowl, and always stayed active. Prior to her own illness, Rose Marie worked as a volunteer for Hospice of Englewood, FL.
In addition to her loving husband, John at home, Rosie is survived by her four daughters, Barbara Hamilton and her husband, David of Ocala, FL, Carol Brown Malcolm, Gloria Finley and her husband, John and Sharon Schrufer and her husband, Melvin all of Bloomingburg. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, William, Jessica, Davey, Brendan, and Jena, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Celebration of Rose’s Life will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening. Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rosie’s name may be made to Kaplan Family Residence, 1 Sunrise Lane, Newburgh, NY 12550.
