Rose Maiorano
July 31, 1926 was a happy day for Maria Montes Maiorano and her husband, Umberto Maiorano. They wecomed their only child into their family. The baby girl was appropriately named Rose, a flower of their home! Rose was a happy child and grew to be a woman of petite stature but of great heart and smile.
As Rose grew so did her love of God and her desire to teach. She chose the path of becoming a Dominican sister of Amityville. There she began serving God through teaching his His children. Rose entered the convent and received the habit

In 1966, Rose's father became ill with cancer and she received dispensation of her vows to go home and take care of him. After his death, Rose and her mother relocated to Middletown, New York. Rose continued her teaching career in the Minisink Valley School District for many years retiring in 1982. Her pleasant manner and smile must have made her a well-loved teacher.
Rose was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Middletown. It was there that she used her failth and teaching skills to help in the RCIA program for people entering the the faith of converting to the Church. In addition, Rose was a Guardian of the Eucharist for Perpetual Adoration from 1998 until 2005 when she no longer was able to serve due to dementia.
Rose spent the final 19 years of her life at Mt. Alverno Assisted Living and then Schervier Pavilion Nursing Home. The outstanding care that Rose received from the doctors, nurses and other staff at both institutions, enabled Rose to live a good life filled with love. They became Rose's family and staff often called her , "our Rose".
October 13, 2024 marked the end of Rose's mortal life and the beginning of eternal life. She now lives with God whom she always loved and tried to serve. Her parents named her well-a beautiful Rose for God's garden.
