April 7, 1921 - December 6, 2012 

Wurtsboro, NY and Palm Coast, FL

Rose Caliendo, a longtime area resident, died on Thursday, December 6, 2012 in Palm Coast, FL. She was 91. The daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine Ruggiero, she was born on April 7, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY. Rose married Gennaro Caliendo, her husband of 68 years. Gennaro predeceased Rose on June 12, 2008.

Rose spent many years in Wurtsboro, NY where she volunteered at Harris Hospital and was a member of St. Joseph's Church and the Mamakating Seniors. She also wintered in Palm Coast, FL where she was a member of the NY Social Club and was the Queen of Bingo. She lived life to the fullest. Rose enjoyed life through dance, travel, and cruising. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that loved to knit, cook and take care of her entire family.

Rose is survived by her loving family; her children: Colette Kraemer and her husband, Kenneth of Palm Coast, FL, Gerald Caliendo and his wife, Anna of Campbell Hall, Linda Sten and her husband, Allan of Highland Mills, Rosemarie Roberts and her husband, Peter of Staten Island, Joseph Caliendo of Deer Park, and JoEllen Englehardt and her husband, Robert of Slate Hill, and daughter-in-law, Susan Caliendo. Rose is also survived by her grandchildren: Dennis Kraemer and his wife, Yvette, Adrienne Caliendo, Nicole Caliendo, Kristie Monastero and her husband, Corey, Nicholas Affisco and his wife, Lauren, Lisa Fiore and husband, Nick, Anthony Caliendo, Joseph Roberts, Christopher Roberts, Allana Caliendo, Mellissa Roberts, Michelle Englehardt, Robert Englehardt and Michael Englehardt; and her great-grandchildren: Tara, Jillian, Kenneth Jr., Dennis, Anthony, Nicholas, Taylor, Alexis, Brayden, Collin,  Nicholas Thomas and Gabriella Rose and one great-grandchild, Cameron.

In addition to her husband, Rose was predeceased by her son, Anthony and her grandson, Kenneth Kraemer, Jr.

Visitation hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, and Sunday, December 9 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 10, at St. Joseph's Church, Sullivan Street, Wurtsboro, NY. Fr. Peter Madori will officiate. Entombment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Middle Hope, NY.
