Rosa Lombardo, a homemaker, and resident of Middletown for over 20 years, died peacefully surrounded by her devoted family at home on June 1, 2021. She was 80 years old.
The daughter of Giuseppe and Antonia Pinto Ribaudo, she was born in San Marco D’Lunzio, Italy on November 30, 1940.
Rosa married the love of her life, Biagio Lombardo on August 24, 1960 in Italy and immigrated to the United States in 1961. They settled in the Bronx and eventually moved to Middletown be closer to their family. Rosa and Biagio raised their one son, Richard and were delighted when he and Gina presented them with two grandsons. They were soulmates who were inseparable, and had celebrated 60 years of marriage, and a family that was the pride and joy of their life
She was gentle, kind and kept an immaculate home. Her legacy will always be one of a dedicated and faithful woman who made our lives so much richer.
Rosa is survived by her son Richard Lombardo and his wife Gina, her precious grandsons, Robert Biagio and Steven Joseph Lombardo. Brother, Alfredo “Tony” Ribaudo and his wife, Maria Rosario, Sisters, Nunziata Ribaudo and Grazia Vitanza , sister-in-law, Maria Ribaudo, who was more like a sister to Rosa and a niece Cristina Fanelli and husband Frank and their children, Anthony and Francesca.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Biagio, who just passed away on May 19, 2021. Brother, Benedetto “Sal” Ribaudo, and sister Maria Vitanza.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 pm on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, June 7, 2021 at St. Joseph's Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Entombment will follow in the Queen of Peace Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
