Ronald "Ron" James Sedita, 73, of Otisville, NY passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 10, 2016.
The son of the late Rosario and Marie Sedita, he was born on August 5, 1943 in Suffern NY.
Ron was a retired carpenter of 25 years and proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1964 as a boat coxswain.
During his years of retirement, Ron enjoyed woodworking, painting, and remodeling the second love of his life, a 1937 Chevy pickup. He was always the "go to" man and would never hesitate to lend a hand for any tasks that needed to be done. Ron's talents and creativity can be seen in many of his friends and families homes in the way of paintings, furniture, wood carvings, and jewelry.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Laura; sons: Ronald Jr. of Middletown NY, Brian of Bloomingburg NY, and Jason and his wife, Gina of Westtown NY. Ron was a loving, generous "Poppy/Pop" to five grandchildren: Justin, Jossalyn, Jordan, Jenna, Madeline and one great-grandchild, Marilyn. Survivors also include sister, Donna Wolfe and husband, David and brother, Richard Sedita both of Florida; sisters-in-law: Karen Belton of Stony Point NY, Sharon Stewart of Bennington VT, and Ann Marie Sedita of Florida NY; brother-in-law, Bob Stewart and wife, Lisa of Princeton NJ; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his mother and father, Ron was predeceased by his brother, Robert Sedita.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, December 14 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 15 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville, Rd., Goshen NY 10924.
