Roger J. Moore, a lifetime Middletown resident, died on August 22, 2009 at O.R.M.C., Horton Campus in Middletown after a valiant battle with emphysema and pneumonia. He was 62.

The only son of the late Viola Draves Moore and Maxwell R. Moore, he was born on October 21, 1946 in Binghampton, NY. Roger was a MHS graduate of the Class of 64 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He married Rosemarie Martino on June 25, 1972 in Goshen.

Roger worked for Burns Security at RSS in Middletown until his recent retirement. He was a member of the SCCA Racing Association and the Davis Shooting Range. He wasa leader, not a follower,  and Roger will be remembered for holding true to his convictions. He was devoted to his wife, Rosemarie, who was the love of his life.

In addition to his wife, Rosemarie at home, Roger is survived by his nieces and nephews, Natasha, Josh, Maryann and Michael and their families, beloved great nephew ( the son he didn't have) Giovanni King, great nieces Gisella and Chloe and great nephews Grant and Giuseppe , brother-in-law Joseph Martino and his wife Nancy, and sister-in-law Debbie Doolittle, and many treasured cousins.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 from 7 to 8 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown. A Funeral Service in Remembrance with Military honors will be held at the funeral home at 8 pm on Wednesday evening. Cremation at Cedar Hill Crematory will be private. Burial will be at a later date in the Moore family plot in Wallkill Cemetery, Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Roger's name may be made to Vietnam Veteran's of America
