Obituary for Roberta A. Mance
Roberta A. Mance, a longtime area resident, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at O.R.M.C. Horton Campus. She was 63 years old.
The daughter of the late Frederick Hart and Rosetta Hanyen Hart, she was born on March 22, 1944 in Ellenville.
Roberta retired from the dietary department at Middletown Psychiatric Center.
Roberta will always be remembered as a loving grandmother who adored her grandchildren (the stars in her life) and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
She is survived by her companion of 25 years, John Winship, at home; her mother, Rosetta of Liberty; one son, James Mance, Jr. and his wife, Shannon of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Barbara Parken of Napanoch and Jo-Ann Saenz and her husband, Michael of Middletown; 13 grandchildren, Christopher and his wife, Ambyr, Joseph, William and his wife, Amy, Christine, Julie, Katherine, Lukas, James, Miguel, Lily, Zachary, Manuel, and Grace; one great grandson, Michael; one brother, Frederick Hart and his wife, Monica; three sisters, Suzanne Avery and her husband, William of Kerhonkson, Rosemary Keener and her husband, Frank of Clintondale, N.Y., and Myrtle Maxwell of Clearyville, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Roberta was predeceased by her grandson, Miles Xavier and one brother, William Hart.
Family and friends are invited to call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2007 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown.
A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be celebrated at 8 p.m. at the funeral home, the Rev. Kenneth Wonderland officiating.
Cremation will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations in Roberta's and Miles name be made to: The Brittany Miller Foundation, A Pediatric Cancer Fund, PO Box 3047, Middletown, NY 10940.
