Robert S. Ferrara, a longtime area resident, died unexpectedly on Friday, December 28, 2012 at home. He was 69.
The son of the late Louis and Carmella Guzzi Ferrara, he was born on January 14, 1943 in New York City. Robert was a member of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Middletown and worked for 43 years for Guardian Life Insurance.
He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who always took care of his family. He treasured family gatherings at his home. He loved cars and enjoyed going to car shows. He had a big knife collection and guns from his father. His grandchildren were his life and no matter what his family needed, he provided for them.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Marie at hone; one son, Robert and his fiance Heather of Middletown, two daughters, Lisa Pfleger and her husband Ernie of GA and Anna of Middletown; a sister Gay Ann Allegue of Red Hook, NY; and his beloved grandchildren, Jamie, Liz, Christian, Anthony and Joseph.
Robert was predeceased by one son, Joseph Ferrara.
Visitation hours are from 4 to 7 pm on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am on Monday, December 31, 2012 at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Interment will be at a later date in the family plot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
