Obituary for Robert S. Bergsten
Robert S. "Bert" Bergsten, a 30 year area resident, died unexpectedly on Thursday, October 12, 2006 while vacationing in Haiti. He was 59 years old.The son of the late John H. and Louise Stroh Bergsten, he was born on April 11, 1947 in the Bronx, N.Y.He was a 35 year linesman for Verizon, Bronx, N.Y.He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Helen T. Bergsten, at home; three beloved sons, Owen, Thomas, and Kristoffer all of Circleville; "Mr. Magoo's" favorite baby girl, Daisha; one brother, John H. Bergsten and his wife, Nancy of Wyomissing, Pa.; one sister, Patricia Rizzi of Bronxville, N.Y.; his mother and father-in-law, Thomas J. and Anita Burke; and one brother-in-law, Kevin Burke all of LaGrange, N.Y.; as well as several nieces and nephews and their families.Robert was predeceased by one brother, Harold Bergsten; and one sister, Martha Jutner.Bert will always be remembered for his love of family and animals and for spoiling both. He was an overly dedicated worker and in his leisure time, he was a man who was at one with nature.Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown. A funeral service of remembrance will be celebrated on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Raymond Bagdonis, O. Carm will officiate.Cremation will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.Memorial donation's in Robert's name may be made to either: the American Heart Association, 255 Greenwich Avenue, Goshen, NY 10924 or The Humane Society of Middletown, Inc., 142 Bloomingburg Road, Middletown, NY 10940.Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
