Robert N. Duffus, III, a lifetime Middletown resident, passed away on April 9, 2018 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 69.
The son of the late Anne Pituski and Robert N. Duffus, Jr., he was born on August 10, 1948, and was a life-long resident of Middletown, NY. He was a 1966 graduate of Middletown High School, and was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Middletown. He worked as a financial professional for Prudential Life Insurance for 45 years. Rob was also a lifetime member of the Middletown Elks Lodge #1097. He loved football in general, but especially the New York Jets. He coached football for the Middletown Youth Football League for many years. Rob loved music starting from the time he was young, and enjoyed being part of local bands, most notably The Deacons, The Frank Maraday Band, and Kaleidoscope. He loved being around his family, being a grandpa, and made friends wherever he went. Rob always had a great sense of humor, which he kept even during his final days.
Rob is survived by his two daughters, Sandra Polanis and her husband Tim of Houston, TX and Tina Everett and her husband Jamie of Matamoras, PA, as well as his beloved MJ, his “Little B’be”, Mary Jo. He is also survived by his sisters, Cheryl DiVirgilio of Middletown, Doreen Dodd and her husband, Dennis of South Burlington, VT, and Diane Duffus and her wife, Michele Raimondi of Clinton Corners, NY; his grandchildren, Jocelyn and Riley, as well as his nieces and nephews, Rich, Laura, Michael, Christa and Jenna. He adored his cats Kevin, Taylor and Bobbi. He was predeceased by his beloved Gizmo and Annie.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday, April 14 at St. Joseph’s Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940. His final resting place will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Rob’s name may be made to Pets Alive, www.petsalive.com.
