Obituary for Robert F. Flynn
Robert F. Flynn, a local area resident, died on Monday May 8, 2006 at O.R.M.C. Horton Campus Middletown. He was 63 years old.
The son of Francis and the late Marcella LaFav Flynn, he was born on December 7, 1942 in Utica, N.Y.
Robert served his country in the U.S. Air force. He worked in retail sales for Sears in Middletown until his retirement in 1998. Robert was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Middletown.
A family statement reads: "He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was absolutely cherished his grandchildren. He loved his whole family. Robert was quiet, reserved and well-disciplined. He was an educated gentleman who was organized and always wanted to get things right."
He is survived by his wife, Donna M. Dray Flynn at home; his daughters Maureen M. Flynn-Minutolo and her husband Guiseppe of Largo, Fla., Michelle A. Flynn Gerow and her husband Darryl of Savannah, Ga.; his father, Francis Flynn of Massena; brothers, Rev. Francis Flynn Jr., and Bruce Flynn of Plattsburg and Barry Flynn of Massena; five grandchildren, Nicholas G. and Bridget M. Minutolo and Ashley M., Darryl "D.J.", and Kaitlyn L. Gerow; several nieces and nephews and plenty of friends.
He was predeceased by one daughter, Melanie D. Flynn on May 2, 1986.
Robert's family will be receiving friends on Thursday, May 11th from 7 to 9 p.m. at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 12th at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown.
Memorial contributions in Robert's name may be made to the Tucker Center for Cancer Care, O.R.M.C., 60 Prospect Street, Middletown, NY 10940.
