Robert C.G. Bingley, a longtime resident of Middletown, died February 10, 2013 at Westchester Medical Center. He was 71 years old.
He was born in Edmonton, Canada on December 6, 1941 to the late George and Beryl Forbes Bingley. Robert served as Superintendent for Rockwood Gardens in Middletown for 38 years. He loved life and lived every moment to its fullest. He was an avid dirt bike rider and really enjoyed "cutting trail".
He adored his wife and children and his grandchildren were the apples of his eyes.
Robert is survived by his two sons, Robert and his wife, Cheryl, Gary and his wife, Dana; two daughters, Sherri Ibe and Stacie Cook and husband, Ed. He was "Pop-Pop" to his beloved nine grandchildren: Danielle and her husband, Paul, Erik, Briana, Mayling, Cameron, Edward, Evan, Emme, and Brett. He is also survived by two great grandchildren, Alexander and Nicholas; two sisters, Christy Vega and her husband, Eddie and Leslie Suarez; two sisters-in law, Claire Towell and Gail Towell; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia; his father, George Bingley; mother, Beryl Towell; his stepfather, Sterling Towell; brothers, Gary, John, and Tommy; and brother-in-law, Angelo Suarez.
Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, February 15, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, at Grace Episcopal Church, Middletown with Father John Warfel officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in Wallkill Cemetery Middletown, NY.
