February 6, 1989-August 13, 2012
Bloomingburg, NY
Robert C. Maynard, a lifetime area resident, died on Monday August 13 at home in Bloomingburg. He was 23.
Robbie became an inspiration to his parents Cynthia Gordon Maynard and Robert P. Maynard and everyone he touched on February 6, 1989, when he was born in Middletown. He was diagnosed with Menkes Syndrome at an early age which never affected his enormous spirit. He loved school, graduated from BOCES and attended the Janet Lockwood School when he was 3 years old.
Robbie always maintained a wonderful sense of humor and throughout any situation; he was positive and had a warm smile, an affectionate greeting and a “thumbs up” for everyone he met. He enjoyed being around people, going to Vermont, hiking, wading in the river, board games (especially Clue). Sponge Bob, Harry Potter and reality shows like "Big Brother" and "American Idol".He cherished every holiday-Christmas, Halloween even April Fool's Day. He loved Disney World, which he first discovered through the "Make a Wish" Foundation. He was also involved with the National Health Institute. He lived an inspiring life against all odds, the legacy of love and strength he exhibited will never be forgotten.
He was his parent's pride and joy and an inspiration to all he touched in his short lifetime.
In addition to his parents Cynthia and Robert, he is survived by his brother, Sean P. Maynard of Ft., Worth, TX and sister, Jessica Lynn Toombs of Azle, TX; his maternal grandparents, Alice and Ronald Gordon and paternal grandmother, Maureen Maynard; nieces and nephews, Trendon, Maddison, Sean Austin and Saylor;
many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandfather, Robert L. Maynard and grandmother, Margaret Gordon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 11 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Cremation will be private.
Robbie would want us to thank all of his many physicians, nurses, aides, teachers and friends who were inspired by his courage and strength. Memorial contributions in Robbie’s name may be made to Make A Wish Foundation, 832 South Broadway Tarrytown, NY 10591
