Obituary for Robert "Bob" Guihan, Sr.
Robert Anthony Guihan Sr. of Middletown NY., died at home peacefully on Friday, July 31st, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was 92.

The son of the late Paul Guihan and Lucy Giordana, he was born in Brooklyn on January 23, 1928. He was one of nine. Bob was brave and intelligent, he enlisted into the U.S. Army at the age of nineteen during W.W.II, as a Decoder in Alaska.

After the service, Bob met the love of his life, Veronica and they married in 1952. Together they had four children and shortly after moved to Long Island in 1959 where they raised their family.


Bob worked for Chilton Publishing in the advertising department, and eventually worked his way up to Senior Editor and Publisher. He loved his job and was proud of his position.

Bob was a loving husband and a wonderful father. He is described as a strong, selfless, kind man. He was brilliant and wise beyond his years, in fact, everyone went to him when they needed good advice. In his spare time he was an avid golfer, talented artist, and fantastic cook. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Janet Storck (Larry), Susan Guihan-Guasp, and Robert Guihan Jr. (Dianne), Grandchildren; Brian, Deanna, Alaina, Sarah Veronica, Jules Robert, Robert Guihan III, and Cassie. Great-grandchildren; Aida Mae and Cooper.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Veronica who passed in February 2020. His siblings, and daughter Julia who died in 2013.

Visitation will take place on Thursday August 6, 2020 from 9-10:45 a.m. at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Ave. Middletown, NY. Due to the current pandemic, visitors will be limited to 25 people at a time. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am, St. Josephs Church, 149 Cottage St., Middletown, NY. Burial will follow in the O.C. Veterans Cemetery, burial is limited to immediate family members only.
