Robert A. Shattuck, a lifetime resident of Middletown, died suddenly on Saturday, March 31, 2012 in Santee, S.C.. He was 78.

The son of late Frank and Mabel Fitzgerald Shattuck, he was born on October 27, 1933 in Middletown. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On November 26, 1966, Rob married Patricia Gancarz at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Middletown. He worked as a mental health case worker for Middletown Psychiatric Center until his retirement. he was a member of B.P.O. Elks # 1097 in Middletown and American Legion Post 151. He loved being outdoors and always had a big, beautiful garden. He was also both a hunter and fisherman. In the past few years, he has been enjoying snowbirding in Florida with his wife, Patti. 

In addition to his loving wife, Patti at home, he is survived by his son, Richard and his wife Karen of Cheyonne, WY and his daughter,  Erin Kniffin and her companion, Kevin; one brother, Robert of Clearwater, FL; and his beloved grandchildren, Mandie, Jessica and her husband Chris, Daniel , Lisa, Shaina and Brianna and many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Robert was predeceased by one grandson, Kevin.

Visitation hours are from 9 to 11 am on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 am at the funeral home, burial with Miltary honors will be immediately following in O.C. Veterans Cemetery in Goshen.

Memorial contributions in Robert's name may be made to either the Record's People for People Fund, 40 Mulberry Street, Middletown, NY 10940 or the Guild of St. Margaret Soup Kitchen, 16 Depot Street, Middletown, NY, 10940.

Visitation hours are from 9 to 11 am on Wednesday, April 4th at the funeral home.

Burial with Military honors will follow in O.C. Veterans Cemetery in Goshen.
