Rita Marie Weatherly, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, died following a short illness at home surrounded by her loving family, She was 66.
The daughter of the late Salvatore and Rosaria Ciccarello, Rita was born on March 23, 1945 in Sicily, Italy and arrived in the United States in 1949, when her family settled in Newburgh. This is where she met her true one and only love, Kenneth Troy Weatherly Sr., who predeceased her in 2008. Rita was a longtime Middletown resident and worked for Genpak for 18 years. She loved her children, grandchildren and her entire family. Rita talked to everyone and treated them all as close friends. She loved her trips to the casinos and spending time with her family and friends. Rita was an avid Yankee fan and enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and her granddaughters’ dance recitals.
Rita is survived by her four loving children; sons, Kenneth Jr., Steven and his wife Jennifer, and Kevin and her daughter, Stephanie Knapp and her husband David, all of Middletown; brothers, Albert and his wife Mary and Jimmy; sisters, Nina, Lilly and her husband Joe and Vera; and sisters-in-law Ella Mae and Terry. Rita is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Roger and his wife Cheryl and Michael and his wife Julie; her forever best friend, Carolyn Delillo and her beloved grandchildren, Kayla, Kenny III, Samantha, Dylan, Kassandra, Tyler, Anthony and Olivia as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to many extended family members, Rita was predeceased by her brothers Phillip and Andrew, sister Angelina, brother-in-law, Clyde Lince  and close friend Richard Delillo.
Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Friday, February 17, 2012 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 18 at the funeral home, Fr. John Horan will officiate. Burial will follow in the family plot in Hillside Cemetery, Mulberry Street, Middletown, NY.
