Richard Willig died peacefully on July 23, 2024. He was 94.
Richard or Dick as he was known in his earlier years was born to Rudolph Willig and Gladys Cole Willig in Middletown NY. He was a lifelong resident who lived in his same home for 71 years. He served in the National Guard for 36 years. He became a pilot at age 18 and owned several airplanes over his life. Richard was an extremely talented auto mechanic who owned his own business the “Car Spot” in Slate Hill NY for 42 years. He also participated in Corvette rallies with the love of his life Marion and owned many Corvettes over the course of his life. Richard loved airplanes and cars and could fix anything. He also loved Florida and drove down every winter for over 50 years even making the 2 day trip alone with his beloved cats in his later years.
He is survived by his 2 devoted daughters Pamela J. Willig of Washingtonville NY and Jill D. Janosi of Marlboro NY, grandchildren Austen, Aryssa and Alexa and 2 great-grandsons. Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife Marion McMahon Willig and his parents Rudolph and Gladys Willig.
Burial will be private.
