Obituary for Richard Thomas Edwards
Richard Thomas Edwards, 76, of Palm City, FL, passed away on May 23, 2013 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, Florida.
Born in College Point, Queens, NY, he had lived in Middletown, NY before retiring to Tequesta, Florida and other various cities throughout Florida.
Mr. Edwards worked for the Genpak Corporation and spent his entire career in the plastics industry. He started new plants in Montgomery, AL, Longview, TX, and Charlotte, NC. In 1991, he moved to Columbus, OH to turn around an existing plant, and was successful in every endeavor.
Mr. Edwards was a veteran of the United States Army from 1958 to 1964 and was also a member of the American Legion in Stuart, FL.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Marilyn of Palm City, FL; daughter, Susan Seeley (Brian) of Middletown, NY; daughter, Donna Wise of Flint, TX; daughter, Nancy Price (James) of Monticello, NY; son, Peter Conboy of Walden, NY; son, Brian Conboy (Carrie) of Sicklerville, NJ; brother, Donald Edwards of Huntington, NY; sister, Florence Zimmerman of Massapequa, NY; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Jillian, Caitlyn, Dylan, Rebecca, Nicholas, Sarah and Jason, great-grandson, Landon.
Visitation hours will be from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, May 28th at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will take place at 6:30 pm on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at 11 am on Wednesday, May 29th at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Rt. 9 W, Middle Hope, NY 12550.
Memorial contributions in Richard’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl Memphis, TN 38105.
