Obituary for Richard T. Fitzgerald
Richard T. Fitzgerald, a longtime area resident died Monday, July 31, 2006 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 51 years old. The son of Richard and the late Margaret Kimple Fitzgerald, Rich was born July 21, 1955 in Brooklyn, NY. A family statement reads, “ He was a wonderful father and always had a positive outlook. He was very funny and was always the comedian of the group. He was able to talk to anyone, and made friends everywhere he went. He enjoyed hiking with his family and friends. He viewed any problem that he encountered as ‘just another hurdle’”. He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy at home; three sons Richard Jr., Sean, and Timothy, all of Cuddebackville; two stepsons Paul Viscardo and his wife, Linsday, and Steven Viscardo at home; one stepdaughter Heather Viscardo of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl; one grandson Paul; two brothers Thomas and John and his wife, Ronnie all of Brooklyn; and one sister Margaret McCarthy of Brooklyn. Family and friends may call on Thursday, August 3, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 4th at 11am at St. Joseph’s RC Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown. Burial will follow in the family plot in Wallkill Cemetery, Phillipsburg, NY. Memorial contributions in Richard’s name may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.Arrangements under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
