Obituary for Richard Peter Andersen
Richard Peter Andersen, aged 50, a longtime area resident, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at Keller Army Community Hospital at West Point. He was employed by the Public Works Department at West Point Military Academy. Richard was the son of Leif and Dorothy Idsall Andersen, formerly of Sparta, N.J. and now of San Rafael, Calif. Richard was born June 1, 1955 in Brooklyn, N.Y.A family statement reads, "We will remember Rich as a wonderful man who was easy with a smile, great with building and fixing anything, and devoted in every way to his family as a loving husband, father, brother, son and friend. We will miss him deeply." He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy; beloved children Leif and Casey; one brother Harold Andersen and his wife, Debi, of Concord, Calif.; three sisters, Carol Olson and her husband, Dennis, of Pennington, N.J., Janet Pohlman and her husband, Gordon, of Rushford, MN, Debbie Niebolt and her husband, Roger, of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; his mother-in-law, Jane Hogan of Westtown, N.Y.; two sisters-in-law, Jane Bookholt and her husband Doug, of Vernon, N.J., and Katie O'Connell and her husband Terry of Lopatcong, N.J.; four brothers-in-law, Bob Hogan and his wife Kathy of Wawaywanda, N.Y., Billy Hogan of Albany, N.Y., Donald Hogan and his wife Dianne of Newton, N.J., and Hugh Hogan and his partner Patrick Moffitt of South Orange, N.J.; and six nieces and nine nephews.Family and friends may call on Tuesday, May 30 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 31 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, South Centerville, N.Y. Fr. Robert Porpora will officiate.Burial will follow immediately in the family plot at Unionville Cemetery, Unionville, N.Y. Arrangements under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home.
