Richard Mita, a longtime area resident, died following a long illness in the early hours of New Year’s Day at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 76.
The son of the late Adolf and Rose Gianuzzi Mita, he was born on May 6, 1940 in Long Island City, NY. Richard worked as a baker and was a member of the Teamsters. Ricard married the love of his life, Beverly Porpora, on April 27, 1963 and renewed their wedding vows again last November. Richard was a loving husband and father whose life was centered around his family.
In addition to his devoted wife Beverly; he is survived by his children; Paul Mita and his wife Kim, Deborah Milling and her husband Robert and Joseph Mita and his wife Amanda; one brother, Peter and seven grandchildren Ashley, Paige, Charlie, Kirianna, Abrielle, Jaxsen, and Alexander as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 8:30 pm on Wedneday evening, rev. Jeffrey Farley will officiate.
Cremation will be private.
