Richard A DeFeo, of Middletown died March 28, 2011 at ORMC Horton Campus. He was 86. Richard was born in Middletown on October 14, 1924 to the late Anthony and Frances Ramires DeFeo. He graduated from MHS in the class of 1947 after serving his country from 1944 until May 3, 1946 in the U.S. Army. Richard married Frances G. Slesinski in Florida NY on July 31, 1960; they celebrated 50 years of marriage together last year. Richie as a co-owner of DeFeo Brothers’ men’s shop in downtown Middletown with his brother Sal until its closing. He worked for several years after that in Kassel Brothers in Orange Plaza. He and his brother took great pride in helping men look their best. Rich was a lifetime member of the Middletown Elks Lodge and the Wallkill Engine # 6 for 50 years.
He is survived by his loving wife Frances at home, three sisters-in-law Ruth DeFeo, Gladys Loyds, three nieces Dottie-Ann DeFeo, Sally Rubino, and Toni Easley and 2 great nephews Christopher and Matthew, and his cat Penny.
He was predeceased by his Brother Sal in 1995.
Visitation will be 1-3 pm Sunday April 3, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Ave. Middletown, NY10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Monday April 4, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 90 Euclid Ave. Middletown, NY Fr. Raymond Bagdonis O.Carm will officiate. Burial will follow in the Orange County Veteransl Cemetery 111 Craigville Rd. Goshen, NY 10924.
