Obituary for Richard DeGroat
Richard DeGroat
10/4/1952-5/22/2021
Middletown, NY

Richard DeGroat, affectionately nicknamed "Dickie doubt" by his family, a longtime resident of the area, died at home on May 22nd 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 68.
The son of Henry and Doris Jennings DeGroat, Richard was born in Hackensack NJ on October 4, 1952.
He had a great sense of humor and often entertained everyone he knew and met with his corny jokes, and his outgoing personality.
He was an avid fisherman and drove a truck for a living with a local business and admitted that as a kid he always wanted to drive trucks and enjoyed driving them as an adult.
He was always on the go and would do anything for anyone in need. One special memory of him would be that he would sing and hum tunes all the time but seldom knew the words!
He is survived by his mother Doris DeGroat, Sons, Richard DeGroat, Jr., Ryan DeGroat, and Austin Schrader. Daughters, Christle LaForge (Douglas), Leona DeGroat, Kayla Mann (Stephen), and Ariel DeGroat. Two stepchildren, Kayla and Tim Schrader. Brothers, Henry DeGroat, Jr., Frederick DeGroat, and Robert DeGroat. Sisters, Rosita Mann, Donna Taylor, and Eileen Pecyna. Cherished grandchildren, Harold Jr., Darryl, Richie III, Kassidy, Joshua, Preston, Malachi, and Raymond.
Richard was predeceased by his wife Christina, father Henry DeGroat, and brother Michael.
