Raymond Ptak, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away on October 13, 2017 as the result of an accident at Westchester Medical Center. He was 62.
The son of the late Walter and Loretta Weiss Ptak, he was born onMay 18, 1955 in Middletown, NY. Ray was a lifetime area resident, graduated from Goshen High School and was a member of the Middletown B.P.O.E. #1097. On August 5, 1989, Ray married Margaret “Peg” Creegan in Middletown, NY.
Ray’s life revolved around his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was a hard worker who always stayed busy. Since he began working on the onion fields at the age of 12, Ray loved taking care of the land, working outside in the yard. He gave his all to anything he did. He liked tinkering with wood, and working on cars. His strong and loving presence will be dearly missed by his family and friends who were not ready to lose him so suddenly.
In addition to his beloved wife, Peg at home; his is survived by his five children, Raymond M. Ptak and his wife Liz of Middletown, Becci Hughes and her husband Sam of Orlando, FL, Jennifer Ptak and her fiance Michael DiPierro of Pine Island, Kelci Ptak and fiance Derek Lewis of Rockland County and Staci Ptak of Matamoras, PA; brothers, Robert and his wife Mary of Marlboro, MA, and William of Tampa, FL; sisters, Patricia La Manna and her husband Felix of Homassa, FL; brothers-in-law, Patrick Creegan and his wife Theresa of Deerpark, NY and Michael Creegan and his wife Sue of Forestburgh, NY; and grandchildren, Aleena, Laila, Emmy, Izabella, Levi and Tyler Walter and several nieces, nephews great-nieces.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 today, October 17, 2017 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 3:30 pm at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
Memorial contributions in Ray’s name may be made to the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, 100 Woods Road, Valhalla, NY 10595.
