Robert Michael “Mike” Murray, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Friday, August 31, 2018 in Middletown. He was 68.
The son of the late Robert Joseph and Margaret Arno Murray, he was born on August 16, 1950 in Hamilton, Ohio. Mike proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard. He has been a Middletown resident since 1978, after relocating from Dumont, NJ. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Middletown and a man of great faith. He had an incredible wit and sharp intellect. Mike was also a history buff. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved antiques. He was an enthusiastic garndener finding great joy in growing things.
He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Maureen (Gannon) Murray; his three sons, Timothy, Sean and Christopher Murray, all of Middletown; one brother, Patrick Murray of Poughkeepsie; two sisters, Sr. Victoria Murray of Sonoita, AZ, Anita Cook of Middletown; and one cherished grandson, Conor Murray of Middletown. Mike is also survied by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 7th at St. Joseph’s Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Middletown, NY.
