Obituary for Quinton M. Hapke

Quinton M. Hapke, Jr.

Quinton M. Hapke, Jr., a lifetime Orange County resident and devoted father, brother and friend, died peacefully at home surrounded by a large family who loved him dearly.

The son of Quinton and Mary Daly Hapke, he was born in Middletown, NY at the old Horton Hospital on June 30, 1950. He was one of eight children and was the most adventurous and spirited one of all. He served in the United States Marines and after returning home he worked at Bob Lounsbury’s Sporting Goods.Later he also worked in construction and eventually retired from the Mid- Hudson Psychiatric Center operating at the Water Treatment Plant.

Quinton enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He would sometimes start a project and leave it unfinished so he could help others with anything they needed. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and working on his Mustang. He was a generous man who would share anything he had with anyone. He had many friends down South that he loved spending time with. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Quinton is survived by his cherished children; Elizabeth Saladino and her husband Nicholas, Quinton D. Hapke and his wife Diane, his grandchildren who he loved spending time with; Thomas, Nicky, Bella, Lilliana, Christian and Emily, his sisters; Mary Elsie Doss and her husband Jim, Sarah Manco and her husband Robert, Kathleen Miller and her husband Lance, Theresa Neale and her husband James and his sweet dog, Daisy Kaye. He is further survived by his many loving nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

He was predeceased by his parents,his sisters, Diane Hapke and Peggy Clark and brother Philip Hapke.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940.

A private family gathering for his burial with Military Honors will take place at the Orange County Veteran’s Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924.
