Priscilla Hume Thompson a lifetime Middletown resident, passed from this earth on Monday, April 28, 2014 at Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 94.

The daughter of the late Russell S. and Lois Minton Hume, she was born on September 7, 1919 in Brooklyn. She married Dr. C. Hudson Thompson, who predeceased her on October 6, 1972. An active member of her community, Priscilla served on the Board of Directors for Horton Hospital, the Zoning Board of Appeals for Town of Wallkill and was also a part of the NYS Traffic Safety Board. In 1983, Mrs. Thompson was honored for her vounteer hours at Horton Hospital which totaled 10,000. Even after receiving her award, she continued to give her time. She enjoyed visiting and socializing with her friends and family and was an dedicated walker up until the last few years. She was an avid tennis player until she was 82 and a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Middletown. She was strong, honest and supportive and always good for words of wisdom. She wanted to know the truth and said what she thought when asked. Priscilla was fortunate to have her family close by her on her cherished country road. She loved the trees, the flowers and the animals that shared the neighborhood with her.

Priscilla is survived by her five children; Priscilla “Penny” Horan and her husband John of Circleville, Stuart Thompson of Middletown, Lois Forti and her husband Joseph of Huntersville, NC, Jenifer Brennan and her husband Jon of Milton, PA and Charles “Trippie” Thompson and his wife Susan of Middletown; one brother, R. Stuart Hume and his wife Elizabeth of New Castle, NH; 13 grandchildren, Matt, Amy, Derek, Deiter, Sarah, Katie, Chris, Allison, Andrew, Michael, Chad, Allissa and Eric and 10 great-grandchildren, Nina, Vera, Tyler, Jake, Cole, Allie, Emily, Megan, Hudson, and Vivian and Sophie, her cat, was a very special friend.

She was predeceased by her husband, her daughter Holly Thompson Ludwig and her brother, Harry Minton Hume.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Ave, Middletown, NY 10940.

According to her wishes, burial of ashes will take place privately at the convenience of the family in the family plot in Circleville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Priscilla’s name may be made to the Middletown Humane Society, 142 Bloomingburg Road, Middletown, NY 10940. Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. www.applebee-mcphillips.com

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Ave, Middletown, NY 10940.
