Phyllis Ann Lounsbury June 28, 1932- June 7, 2017 Middletown, NY
Phyllis Ann “Meme” Lounsbury left this world peacefully, surrounded by her loving family in her home on June 7th in Middletown New York at the age of 84.
Phyllis was born on June 28, 1932 in Queens, NY to Mary Pagano and Michael Tavaglione. She married Robert, her high school sweetheart and entrepreneur on January 28th, 1950. Phyllis took great pride in her years as Administrator for the West Point Jewish Chapel. Phyllis volunteered as a “Grey Lady” at Horton Hospital, was a member of the Lenten Sewing Club, a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, she served on the board of the Middletown YMCA, and she was an avid Bridge player and member of Hudson Valley Contract Bridge League.
Meme was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Phyllis personified what it meant to be a lady in both her values and her presence. She leaves behind a family that she taught well and will miss her dearly.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Linda and husband Frank LaNasa of Middletown, New York her son Robert Jr. and his wife Linda of Bloomingburg, New York; her sister Rosalie and husband Claude Stewart of Anderson, South Carolina; her grandchildren, Ryan and wife Whitney, Lindsey, Anthony, Chesa and her husband Dominick Della Pia, Dillon and his wife Jessica; her great grandchildren, William, Luke, Charlotte, Elle and Tristin; her brother-in-law Dennis Lounsbury and his wife Ann of Sunset Beach, North Carolina; her sister-in-law Judith and her husband Lou Perna of Sunset Beach, North Carolina; her Aunt Shirley Messenger of Goshen, New York and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Michael and Mary Tavaglione, husband Robert Lounsbury Sr. and daughter Leigh Ann, her sister Mary Platania, brother Mike Duco, brother Larry Duco and her brother-in-law Jack Lounsbury.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 pm on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Monday, June 12, 2017 at the funeral home, Pastor Mason Whitley will officiate. Burial will follow in the family plot in Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Phyllis’ name may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
