Obituary for Pauline Pape Bonnell
PAULINE PAPE BONNELL
June 17, 2017
Middletown, NY
Pauline Pape Bonnell, lifelong resident of Middletown, NY, died peacefully on Saturday, June 17, 2017. She was 84 and had suffered from Alzheimer's disease in recent years.
Pauline was a dedicated homemaker until later entering the workforce, first at the Craft Place in the Orange Plaza, and then St.Teresa's Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Highland Ave. She quickly made lasting friends at both. Throughout her life, she contributed to her community, whether as den mother or volunteer literacy tutor. She will be remembered for her natural support of anyone who came within her circle. Her home was open to all, and she was never "Mrs. Bonnell" but simply Pauline, a second mother to the many young people who entered her generous world. Though busy nurturing children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, her heart still held room for others, and she lived according to a passionate sense of fairness and liberal ideals. Talented and creative, with an irreverent sense of humor, she will be missed by all whose lives intersected hers.
Pauline leaves behind her six daughters: Jean Bonnell Felton and husband, Preston of Circleville, NY, Mary Harnick and husband, Martin of Middletown, Ann Taylor and husband, Matthew of Winterton, NY, Catherine Bonnell of Middletown, Therese Bonnell Apfel and husband, Michael of Middletown, and Christine Bonnell of New York, NY; and two sons: Michael and wife, Joan of Seattle, WA, and Peter and wife, Kathy of South Fallsburg, NY; as well as many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Stewart; sister, Patricia Thomas of Middletown; brothers Vincent Pape of Middletown and Richard Pape of Vestal, NY.
Honoring Pauline's wishes, a family service was privately held; a memorial celebration will be set for a future date.
Memorial contributions are welcome at the Alzheimer's Association, 384 Crystal Run Road, Suite 102, Middletown, NY, 10941, www.act.alz.org/donate and the National Osteoporosis Foundation, 251 18th Street S, Suite 630, Arlington, VA 22202, www.info@nof.org.
