Obituary for Paul Gerhardt Miller
Paul Gerhardt Miller, a respected attorney and longtime resident of Orange County, died on Tuesday February 21, 2006 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus at the age of 76.
The son of the late Edward and Frieda Albright Miller, he was born on April 6, 1929 in Canandaigua, N.Y.
He served in the US Navy from 1946-48. He attended Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. Paul graduated in 1951 and received his law degree in 1953. He worked for the law firm of Moat, Sprague, Marcy and Gulick in Buffalo, N.Y. Mr. Miller came to Orange County in 1966 where he and his partner John Bach, Sr. started PJ Enterprises, Hill N Dale Abstracters and Goshen Searchers. He practiced real estate law and was known in some circles as the "Dean of Real Estate Law in Orange County." He was proud of the fact that in over 40 years he handled 30 thousand transactions. Paul never hesitated to share his knowledge of law with anyone who needed help or advice and was highly regarded in his field by his colleagues. Paul was also an avid swimmer at the Y.M.C.A and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Middletown.
A family statement reads: "He was a kind, gentle soul who will be missed by all."
Besides his wife Anne Johnston Miller at home, Paul is survived by two daughters, Patricia Foxe of Owings Mills, Md. and Nancy-Ellen Magdits and her husband Lou of Rolla, MO; three grandchildren, Jordan, Louis and Ian Paul Magdits; and many cousins in the Buffalo area.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, February 23 (today) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 24, 10 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Middletown.
Burial will follow in the family plot in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.
