Patricia Whirt formerly of Florida NY, died on Thursday November 4 in Accord, NY. She was 76.
The daughter of the late John and Marie Van Dermark O'Rourke she was born on January 20, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY.
On September 11, 1954, she married James R. Whirt during a hurricane in Brooklyn, NY. They were fortunate enough to spend over 65 years together and traveled throughout the country together for the last 10 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and the Irish Club in Middletown, and Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Kerhonson.
She is survived by her husband, son James John Whirt and his wife Celeste of Kennesaw, GA; and daughters, Deborah Petrizzo and her husband Raymond of Morganville, NJ and Katherine Evan and her husband Mark of Linden, NJ; one sister, Theresa Hoey of Newton, NC; and eight grandchildren, Joseph, Jessica, Nicholas, Michael, Jennifer, Ryan, Marissa and Trevor.
Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Monday, November 8, 2010 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow in Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen, NY 10940
