Patricia Mahoney, a payroll clerk for Orange County Dept. of Social Services, died on Monday, January 11, 2010 surrounded by her loving family at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. She was 65.
The daughter of the late James and Genevive McLaughlin Powers, she was born on March 29, 1944 in the Bronx. Pat married Joseph J. Mahoney on October 8, 1966 at the Church of the Holy Spirit in the Bronx. She and Joe moved to the Middletown area in 1973 from Astoria, Queens. Pat was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Bloomingburg, where she led craft classes for parishioners and their families. She was also an active member of the Wurtsboro Lions club, Orange County Head Start and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her husband Joseph at home; she is survived by her daughters, Donna Anthony and her husband Jay of Tampa, Fl and Tracy Mahoney of Middletown and her sons, Joseph F. and his wife Dana of Goshen and Sean and his wife Debra of Guyton, GA. She is also survived by her brothers James and his wife Bernadette of Branford, CT and Donald Powers of Brooklyn; her sister Kathleen McMahon and her husband James of Jackson, NJ and five beloved grandchildren, Jessica, Sean, Brianna, Sofia and Marrisa as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Anne Lomax.
Visitation will be held on Thurs, Jan. 15 from 7 to 9 pm and Fri., Jan. 15 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at
11 am on January 16, 2010 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 45 Highland Avenue, Bloomingburg, NY 12721. Cremation will be private at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions in Pat's name may be made to either St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN or the American Heart Association, 419 East Main Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
Interment will be in Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY. . .
