Patricia Ann McKeon, wife, mother and beloved sister, died on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 55 years old.
The daughter of the late John and Agnes (Strong) Purtill, she was born on October 14, 1962 in Suffern, NY. Pat grew up in Rockland County and graduated from Clarkstown South High School, with honors. After earning an Associate’s degree, she began working in 1982, with The Office for People With Developmental Disabilities. Pat met the love of her life in one of her work locations, got married, and became a working mother who made juggling home and job responsibilities look easy. She worked her way up from a position in direct care to Placement Coordinator over the course of thirty five years. Through it all, Pat provided hands on care with a sense of responsibility, respect, and compassion towards individuals and staff. What set her apart was her calmness, patience, leadership, tenacity and sense of humor, which earned her tremendous love and deep respect from all those who knew her.
Pat had an ability to see the bright side of any situation and lit up any room she entered. Above all was her deep love and devotion to family and friends.
Pat is survived by her loving husband, Richard; her three sons: Sean and his girlfriend, Allyson Pepper, Brendan, and Luke McKeon. She is also survived by seven siblings: Kathleen Purtill, Jack Purtill and his wife, Adele, Thomas Purtill and his wife, Cheryl, Joseph Purtill and his wife, Barbara, James Purtill and his wife, Anita, Thomas Strong, Jeanne Lacker and her husband, Andrew, as well as inumerable nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one sister, Maureen.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Holy Cross R.C. Church, 626 Co. Rt. 22, Middletown, NY 10940. Cremation will be private.
