Obituary for Oscar Gonzalez
Oscar Gonzalez, a longtime Orange County resident, died after a lenghty illness at Garnet Medical Center on July 26, 2024. He was 78 years old.
The son of the late Oscar and Juanaita Santiago Gonzalez, Sr., he was born on July 10, 1946 in Manhattan. He served his country in U.S. Army until 1966. On Valentine's Day 2003, Oscar married Cheryl Carlock in Middletown, NY. He worked for RECAP in Middletown, NY.
He was a man who loved his family and enjoyed his grandchildren. He was a talented woodworker and handyman who could fix anything. His hobbies included a night at the casino, playing poker with friends and bowling. Helping others was important to him. He will be remebered for being active, which he was was right up until his recent illness. He will be sorely missed by his family and his faithful companion, his dog Candy.
Cremation was private. A Graveside Service wih Military honros wil be held on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 11 am at Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924.
