Olevene Stillwell Hammarquist entered into rest on August 1, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. She was 82.

Olevene was born on August 4, 1931 in New York, NY to Merritt Dickerson Stillwell and his wife Roseldia. Olevene was married to Robert H. Hammarquist on July 11, 1980 in Bay Shore, Long Island. Mrs. Hammarquist was retired from Middletown Psychiatric Center after 20 years. She was a member of the German American Club of Middletown. She loved people and enjoyed being with everyone, especially her beloved husband Robert who predeceased her in 2012.

She is survived by her daughter, Rose Ann Lucia of Middletown; two grandchildren, Shawna Sgroe and her husband Chris of Highland and Col. Patrick Sylvestre and his wife Deirdre of Isaqush, WA; four great-grandchildren, Lillly Bell Sgroe, Dylan Sgroe, Monica Rose Sylvestre and Kathleen Olevene Sylvestre; and her step children; Jeffrey Hammarquist of Wilmington, NC, Robert Hammarquist II and his wife Iris of Burgar, PA, Peter Hammarquist and his wife Laura of Orlando, FL and Peggy Smith and her husband Cecil of San Antonio, TX; and stepgrandchildren, Robert Hammarquist III, Jeffrey Hammarquist II, Peter John Hammarquist, Brooke Hammarquist, Jeremy, Lindsay and Courtney Smith.

In addition to her husband Robert, she was predceased by her son, Joseph Merritt Lercara.

Visitation hours are from 9 to 11 am on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home at 11 am, burial will follow in the family plot in Mt. Hope Plains Cemetery in Otisville. Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. www.applebee-mcphillips.com
