Norma F. Weber, a longtime resident of Middletown, NY, entered into rest on December 20, 2012, surrounded by her family.
She was born on August 11, 1926 in Central Falls, Rhode Island, the daughter of the late Gloria and Edwin Oakley of Rhode Island. She moved to Middletown with her husband Irvin in 1959. She was a unique woman of her ways. Her family was most important to her. In her younger years, she worked at Earle’s Nursing Home then at Arden Hill Hospital, which she retired from. After retirement, she would travel back to Rhode Island where she stayed for months on end with her nieces and nephews and their families.
She is survived by three sons, Irvin and his wife Laurel of Mt. Hope, Douglas of Warwick and Karl and his wife of Worcester, MA; two daughters, Robin Gillette and her husband Daniel of Monroe and Jacqueline Weber of Middletown. Her nine loving grandchildren also survive her: Kara Tompkins and her husband , Kristen Weber, Richard Weber, Harli Weber, David Weber, Rilee Weber, Daniel Gillette, Jr and his wife Kristen, Brandi Svrchek and her husband Ronald and Abigail Gillette as well as 4 great-grandchildren whom she adored, Gehrig and Grace Gillette and Trevor and Lila Svrchek; and many caring and loving nieces and nephews in Rhode Island.
She was predeceased by her husband, Irvin Weber, Sr, her brothers, Edwin and Walter Oakley; one sister, Dorothy and one grandson, Christopher Weber.
Norma’s family would like to extend a very special thank you to Elant at Goshen for the loving care she received during her stay there. Joanne M., Jackie, Bianca and Heather just to name a few staff members who Norma looked forward to seeing and spending time with.
Visitation hours will be from 2 to4 and 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeal home on Wednesday at 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Norma’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
