Nelson Matos, a lifetime resident of the area, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 51.
The son of the late Isabel Conde and Pascual Matos, he was born on April 3, 1962 in Middletown. Nelson married Jeannine Goguen, his high school sweetheart and soul mate, on April 27, 1992 in Middletown.
Nelson is remembered by his loving family as a very spiritual man with a great sense of humor. He was sensitive and had a wonderful laugh. He enjoyed car shows and races at the Middletown track. Nelson was a stylish dresser who could be trusted to give an honest critique of other’s fashions. He had a natural ability to analyze car problems and always offered to help with them. He was kind and generous and taught and lived by the motto: “ it is better to give than to receive”. He was always late, never punctual.
In addition to his loving wife and friend, Jeannine; he is survived by his sons, Mitchel and Alex and his daughters, Candace and Madison all at home; brothers Abel and his wife Dorothy and sisters, Debbie and her husband Ralph and Ilia and her husband Tony all of Middletown and one beloved grandchild, Kaycee, nieces and nephews, Danielle, Monique, Chelsea, Sara, Isabel and Antonio as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents and one nephew Jaden.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 7:30 pm on Monday evening at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 7:30 pm on Monday evening at the funeral home.
