Middletown, NY
Nellie McClurg, a lifetime Middletown resident, died on Friday, February 9, 2018 following a short illness at Middletown Park Manor. She was 92.
The daughter of the late Jan and Ursula Prytyka Duczeminski, she was born on July 17, 1925 in Middletown, NY. Nellie married Samuel H. McClurg on September 26, 1948 at St. Joseph’s Church in Middletown. From the moment she became a mother, Nellie’s entire life became about family, they were everything to her. She focussed her energy on her children, and later on her beloved grandchildren. She loved taking care of them and keeping up with them-even staying in touch through facetime during her recent illness. Nellie was a very devout Catholic and always found comfort in her faith. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Middletown.
Nellie is survived by her sons, Michael and his wife Judy of Huntsville, AL and Steven and his wife Mary of Middletown; her brother, John Duczeminski and sister Ursula Brown; and one sister-in-law, Kay Duczeminski. She is also survived by her four grandchildren; Maureen McClurg of Malibu, CA, Kelly McClurg of Huntsville, AL, Megan Nywening and her husband Kurt of Summerville, SC and Ryan McClurg of Middletown, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her loving husband Samuel H. McClurg and her parents, she was preceased by a brother, Joseph Duczeminski; two sisters, Catherine Duczeminski and Amelia Hyndman.
As per Nellie’s wishes, her services will be private.
