Nanette Pauline Walters, of Afton, NY and formerly of Middletown, died surrounded by her beloved family following a long illness at Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 61.
The daughter of the late Francis and Nanette M. Hetrick Komonczi, she was born Clearfeild, PA on January 30, 1953. Nanette married her devoted husband, Roger K. Walters, Sr. on March 24, 1970. Nanette most recently worked as an L.P.N. for Willow Point Nursing Home in Vestal, NY. Over the years she wore many hats, including working for Mid-Hudson Paralegal Services, E.A. Morse and Company, Wallace Oil Company and was co-owner of Magyar Holsteins.
Nanette loved to cook, can and bake. She loved animals and being around farm life. She spent 25 years as a 4-H leader in Orange County while raising her children.
In addition to her loving husband, Roger at home; she is survived by her six children: Roger Walters, Jr and his wife, Cynthia of Cuddebackville, Daryl Walters and his significant other, Stacey Mathes of Pine Bush, Eddie Walters and his wife, Heidi of Westbrookville, Lisa Wallace and her husband, Jim, Karen Knapp and her husband, Darrin, all of Middletown and Betty Jo Reuter of Warwick.
She is also survived by her brother, Charlie Komonczi, sister, Fran McGill; grandchildren: Erin, Kelly, Amanda, Megan, Roger III, Colby, Kim-Kaye, Tyler, Justina, Kenny, Katey, Tom, Holly, Tara, DJ, Jake, Angeline, Alyssa, Kayla, Katherine, Amber, Shea, Stacey, Samantha, Shannon; great-grandchildren, Gage, Sarah, Amara, Ameila, Brett, Jenna, Kyle, Ryan, Kayden, Aliya, Zariya, Azahlia, Isabella, Daamin, Vincent, Austin, Ariana, Amy and Allison; and her dogs, Bleda and Bala.
She was predeceased by her brother, David Komonczi and granddaughter, Amy Walters and beloved cat, Yikshok.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday evening at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
