Muriel Duffus, "Aunt Mu", a long time area resident, passed away peacefully at her home on January 27, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was 93 years old.
The daughter of Jacob I. Roosa and Ruth Dayton, She was born on May 25,1923 in Monroe, NY.
She was employed by Clemson Brothers in Middletown as an Executive Secretary for many years.
Muriel loved Sunday drives and loved to travel. She often vacationed in Scotland with her husband John, one their favorite destinations, and his birthplace.
She is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, John Duffus Jr. and Linda of Cuddebackville and loving grandson, John III; brother, Walter Roosa and Barbara of Plattekill, NY; sister, Marion Love of Middletown, NY. She was predeceased by her husband John S. Duffus Sr. and brother, Warren Roosa.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 1 at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the family plot in Wallkill Cemetery, Middletown, NY.
