Mildred McDowell Parrella

Mildred Parrella passed away peacefully at Garnet Health Medical Center on April 4, 2024.She was born in Kings Park, NY to Edward and Helen (Sarine) McDowell on September 5, 1927.In addition to her parents Mildred was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Anthony (Tony) Parrella, two sons, Guy and Thomas Parrella., two sisters, Lillian Patchen and Helen Crissman, and two brothers, Earl and Robert McDowell.
Millie is survived by her son , Charles, and his wife Jeanne of Middletown, NY, two grandsons, Mark (Carrie) Parrella \of Austin, TX and Brian (Alison) Parrella of Charlotte, NC., and 6 great-,grandchildren, Anabelle, Valentine, Samantha, Eliana, Olivia, and Wesley Parrella. as well as several nieces and nephews.
Millie worked at Lloyds Shopping Center and then was employed at the Ramapo Catskill Library System. She, spent time on the Bookmobile traveling to communities that did not have public libraries until her retirement. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Lloyds bowling team as well as leagues in Fort Pierce , FL where she and Tony wintered and eventually took up residence in 1993 after selling their family home in Middletown, NY. Millie was an accomplished artist and many friends and family members enjoy her paintings in their homes.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Highland Nursing Center for their care during this last year.
Memorial donations can be sent to the Alzheimer's Association to help end this terrible,
debilitating disease.
Burial will be at the Westbrookville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
