Obituary for Mildred B. Weatherly
Mildred Beatrice Weatherly, a longtime area resident and retired executive secretary, died after a short illness on March 8, 2021 at Garnet Health Center. She was 101 years old.
The daughter of the late James and Grace Ashcroft Mitchell, she was born on April 11, 1919 in Lyndhurst, NJ. Mildred married Wayne Weatherly, an interior designer on June 12, 1937 and they had celebrated 73 years of marriage before his death in February of 2021. She worked as an executive secretary for Kraft General Foods in White Plains, NY. Millie was dedicated to her family and helping others, She and Wayne enjoyed their home and it was a very welcoming and bright place to visit. Their home library was extensive and they shared a love for the classics, learning, art and music. Her mind was always sharp and she exercised it doing crosswords, collecting art, reading and skillfully playing along with Jeopardy (she was a virtual champion). She was perceptive and had an amazing ability to retain and share information throughout her entire lifetime.
Besides her husband Wayne, she was predeceased by both of their children, Brad in 2004 and Anne Redard in 2001 as well as her brother Alfred H. Mitchell.
She is survived by her five grandchildren, Stephen Sayers and his wife Deborah of Sparrowbush and Alyssa Sayers of Huguenot; and Willie, Robert and Neil Weatherly; her great-grandchildren, Wille Weatherly Jr, Leanne, Robert Weatherly, Jr and Casey Weatherly, Ryan Walsh, Theodore Sayers, Amy McClintock and Kristin Wittmer; and great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Hazel McClintock, Ephraim Sayers and Harper Wittmer; as well as nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2021 from 11:30 and to 1:30 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 12 pm, the services will be live streamed at that time.
The family would like to thank all the workers and friends at Milford Healthcare for their patience, love and devotion that were given to Mildred and her family over the years.
A Graveside will be held on Monday, March 15, 2021 at 1 pm at the family plot at New Prospect Cemetery in Pine Bush, NY.
