Mildred C. Barad, a longtime resident of Rockland County, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. She was 89.

The daughter of the late William A. and Mary Rebich Qualey, she was born on May 11, 1924 in Braddock, PA. Milly was a loving mother who enjoyed watching her children ride horses. Through her love of the sport of riding, Milly developed a sucessful business in 1978. She started ‘Milly’s Ramapo Saddlery” in Rockland County and later moved the shop to Bergen County in NJ. She loved going to work each day, upon leaving she would say, “I’m going to play store!”

Milly is survived by her children, Daniel A. Barad of Orangeburg and Linda L. Barad of Harriman; one sister, Ruth Kerrigan of VA and one grandson, Devin Barad and his mother, Vera Hoyer Booth both of New Mexico.

She was predeceased by her huband David Barad and a brother,

William Qualey.

Although Milly retired in 2005, “Milly’s Ramapo Saddlery” is still thriving today. She was truly loved by all for her warm spirit and generosity.

There will be no visitation, cremation will be private.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1 pm on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 71 Murray Avenue, Goshen, NY 10924.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Milly’s name may be made to the Walden Humane Society, Albany Post Rd, Walden, NY 12586.
