Michael Paul Hernandez, 52 yrs old passed away on 4/9/2021 in Middletown, NY.
Born in Newburgh, NY, he was the son of Paul and Irene Hernandez. He graduated from Valley Central High School. He was employed at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and worked as a Correction Officer for over 20 years. He was honored in for 2012 as Officer of the Year and received commendations in 2003 and 2015 for participating in drug operation sweeps.
Mike was a loving son and great friend to all that knew him. He loved visiting his best friend in Florida and spending time with his nieces and nephews. Mike enjoyed playing golf and poker. He will always be remembered for his kind heart and contagious smile. He will be deeply missed by all.
He is survived by his mom, Irene Hernandez, his short best friend, Kimberly Vance and his nieces, Grace, Sara and Allie and nephews, Jack and Christopher. He was predeceased by John Hernandez, his brother.
The viewing/visitation and funeral service will be held from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, April 15th at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Diabetes Foundation Inc, 411 Hackensack Ave, Hackensack, NJ 07601.
