Michael J Hughes passed away on March 22, 2023 at Garnet Health. He was 70 years old.
Michael was born in Massapequa, NY on November 2, 1952 to Philip and Nancy Hughes. He was a sales representative for Safety Kleen for over 20 years. Some hobbies included fishing, making fishing poles, cooking, reading, socializing, Tai Chi, and creating memories with his family and friends. He was full of love, life, energy, joy, kindness, and positivity. He was easy going and always willing to lend a helping hand even though he had "two left thumbs". His presence always lit up a room. His laughter was contagious. He was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandpa.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Joann Gaudio Hughes. His daughter Alyssa Ellison and son in law, Darren Ellison. Two loving grandchildren Mason and Jordan Ellison. His son James Michael Hughes, PhD and son in law Walter Grosso Marra, MD. His mother Nancy Hughes and three brothers John, Richard, and Gary.
A memorial service will be held at McPhillips Funeral Home in Middletown NY on Friday March 31st 1-3pm.
