Michael Anthony Matuszewski, Jr., beloved son, brother, father, uncle and friend, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 16, 2018. He was 35 years old. Michael grew up in Middletown and graduated from Middletown Schools. Mike spent his life working alongside his father and sister and was an accomplished auto upholsterer. He loved everything to do with cars and sports. Mike was fun loving and care free. He could make anyone laugh- he brightened the lives of everyone who loved him. He was an amazing and loyal friend to so many and he will be deeply missed. Mike was irreplaceable.
The love for his son was immeasurable. There are no words to describe their love and bond. Michael III was his pride and joy. He loved his first born Kelsee with all his heart and was proud of the young woman she has grown to be. His greatest accomplishment was being a DAD.
Mike is survived by his loving parents, Michael and Valerie Matuszewski; his sister, Erika Matuszewski; his children, Michael Matuszewski, III and his mother, the love of Mike’s life, Kimberly Ferguson; his daughter, Kelsee Wood and her mother, Lisa Wood and Aunt Kari Wood. He is also survived by his niece Taylor Hogan and her father Shawn Hogan; Aunts and Uncles, James and Tamilyn Clark, Bruce and Chris Clark, Sue and Tom Lapertosa, Rick and Cheryl Matuszewski, Linda and Jerry Coleman, Barbara and Chuck Kwiecinski, Diane and Floyd Durland; cousins, Tony and Danielle Lapertosa, Jessica and Chris Woods, Shawn and Lulu Matuszewski, Keirsten and Joel Nywening, Kaela and Adam Rivera. Second parents, Dominique Parenti and Keith Hallock; Stephanie Pilenza, Eddie Borgia and Madelyn Borgia, Grandma Fran, Grandpa Pat Pilenza; his best friend since kindergarten, Chris Lennon and his wife Aylin, nephew Christopher Jr and Deanna Sims and so many more.
He was predeceased by Tony and Marge Matuszewski, Fred and Barbara Clark McGlade, Ed McGlade and Uncle Thomas Clark.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow in the family plot in Pine Hill Cemetery.
