Max Sandroff, a retired baker, died following a long illness on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was 85.
One of the late Morris and Molly Schwartz Sandroff's six children, he was born on January 19, 1926 in the Bronx. Max proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Pauline Goldstein. He was a longtime resident of Rockland County where he worked as a safety officer and was a member of General Warren #2 Fire Department in Haverstraw.
Max is survived by his beloved wife, Pauline; and his sons, Claude and his wife Francoise, and Walter Sandroff  and his daughter, Donna Sandroff; two grandchildren; Stacey Pitt and her husband Michael and Brian Picariello and his wife Kimmie and four great grandchildren, Kyra and Nicholas Picariello and Darien and Jaylin Pitt.
He was predeceased by all five of his siblings.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 am on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service in Remembrance will be held at 11 am on Sunday at the funeral
home. Burial with Military honors will follow in O.C. Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924.
Because of the caring and dedicated service they provided Max during his illness, his family requests memorial contributions in his name to be made to Mobile Life Support Services, EMS Education Fund, PO Box 471, Newburgh, NY 12551.
