Maryellen Sheldon, of Middletown, died peacefully at home on October 15, 2018 with her loving family by her side. She was 71 years old.
The daughter of Mary Rourke and Edward Bentley, she was born on July 25, 1947 in Albany, New York.
She worked as a registered Ob-Gyn nurse for over 40 years providing loving care for countless women and their families her entire career. Everyone called her M. E.
Maryellen loved to travel, and thoroughly enjoyed her U.S. Naval Academy Football games. In her spare time, she loved to knit. She loved the city…the food, and Old St. Pat’s. She and Michael built a fantastic life together, making friends with people they met all over the world. She was always upbeat and happy.
Maryellen is survived by her husband Michael of 48 years, and her two sons, Brian Sheldon and his wife Erica of Campbell Hall and Mark Sheldon and Caitlin of Middletown, New York, three brothers; Edward Bentley and his wife Anne of Saratoga, New York, Daniel Bentley of Otego, New York, and Jerome Bentley and his wife Sue of Guilderland, New York; three sisters; Anne Marie Bentley ,Kathleen Rosch and her husband William and Patricia Lynch and her husband Robert, all of Albany, New York. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Frank DeSanta of Latham, New York, and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents, and her sister, Margaret DeSanta.
Visitation will take place at Applebee-Mcphillips Funeral Home. 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, New York on Wednesday, October 17 from 5 to 8 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John’s the Evangelist Church in Goshen on Thursday October 18, 2018 at 10 A.M. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, New York.
