MaryAnn Christopher Elwyn, of Middletown, NY passed peacefully February 12, 2022 at age 77.
MaryAnn was born in Kearny, NJ to beloved parents Ervin and Mary Wartenburg. She graduated from SUNY Buffalo with a degree in education and then went on to raise a family while earning her Masters degree with honors in Speech Pathology from SUNY New Paltz. A devoted mother of four, MaryAnn had a long and illustrious career at Pine Bush Central School District in Pine Bush, NY, teaching specialized communication to hearing impaired and special needs children through speech and sign language. Throughout her 38 years as a speech pathologist, MaryAnn impacted the lives of thousands of children.
At home MaryAnn loved to plant and tend to beautiful flower gardens, knit, exercise, water ski, rollerblade, relax at the beach, travel, and pour endless love into her beloved pets and family. Above anything else, she loved quiet and fun times surrounded by her loving husband and family.
MaryAnn is survived by her husband of 26 years, Henry Stanley Elwyn III, her children Dr. Ron Christopher, Erinn Christopher, Jordan Christopher and Robyn Moriarty, her step children Henry and Christina Elwyn, siblings Grant Watenburg and Susan Hunt, her former husband, Ronald F Christopher, twelve loving grandchildren - Lexi, Austin, Jordan, Brennan, Patterson, Rylan, Reese, Brett, Merrik, Canon, Lauder and Aldrin, daughters-in-law, Patty and Nicole Christopher, son-in-law Joe Moriarty.
Visitation and Services will be held on Saturday, February 19th at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home from 11:00 to 12:30. 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her honor to Children’s Diabetes Foundation.
